Aftercare
● After the semi-permanent make-up procedure, it is natural for swelling to occur.
● Colors may appear darker immediately following the procedure. Pigments usually scab after 3-5 days. Allow the scab to flake off naturally. DO NOT pick or rub.
● DO cleanse the area with gentle cleaning pre-foaming wash or cleanser for 7 days. As the healing progresses, colors will soften to its true color.
● We recommend lightly rinsing your face and showering with low-pressure water the first 7 days. for 7 days, you can use a gentle soap or non-greasy cleaner to keep your brows or treated areas clean.
● To ensure the hair stroke lines stay as thin as possible, Please avoid heavy sweats, and oils and makeup on hair stroke lines can blur/ thicken the appearance of the lines. ● No heavy workouts for 10 days. Avoid sweating.
● It is normal for colors to fade up to 20-40%. Touch-ups are recommended but not required after 4 - 6 weeks and no longer than 8 weeks.
● Apply ointment (provided) twice a day (morning and evening) for 7days follow along with wash and minimum amount only. DO NOT saturated because it will remove all the pigments by putting on too much.
● Avoid Petroleum Jelly or Vaseline during your healing period. Anything with a petroleum base can cause a reaction, crusting, scabbing, and sweating so the skin is not able to breathe.
● If itching occurs, Bactine is recommended as it will disinfect the area. Bactine contains lidocaine and benzalkonium chloride. (You can get this over the counter)
● If necessary, an appointment for a retouch can be scheduled 4-6 weeks after the initial procedure and it is not included.
● Do not soak the treated area in a hot tub or swimming pool for 14 days post-treatment.
● No sunbathing, tanning, chemical peels, mesotherapy, dermabrasion, Botox or any other intense treatments for 4 weeks post-treatment.
● WARNING: Chlorine, exfoliation creams, and exposure to the sun will cause colors to fade.
● Failure to follow post-procedure instructions may cause loss of pigment, discoloration, or infection.
● What will make your eyebrows fade: ○ Oily skin - hair strokes will both fade and blur over time. ○ Frequent exercise - the salt in sweat will cause the pigment to purge from the skin ○ Certain types of medications ○ Acne medications and cream ○ Youth - simply put, the younger/healthier you are, the faster your cells turn over ○ Anti-aging skincare products ○ Glycolic acids, Retin-A, exfoliants or anti-aging ○ Lighter pigment - blondes fade faster than brunettes
Microblading healing day by day
● 24 hours - 48 hours ○ They look textured, dense albeit a little bit red. Your brows are bold in color. They can look slightly more dramatic in appearance than normal, tender, swollen, and you may even experience some slight bleeding. The day you get them done you may be in awe of your fresh set of brows. Please don’t panic. The permanent makeup has been applied to compensate for fading of 20-40%, so if they look darker than you normally wear your brows, stay calm, the color will fade over the next week. The next couple days Your brows will be reddish, still quite tender, and maybe even a little bit thicker in texture than the day before. You may really notice the difference in your brows and feel like people are looking at them, but chances are you’re more self-conscious about it rather than people noticing them being darker than normal. Swelling can be still going on at this period. The redness can subsided a lot at. They had not started to form hard thick scabs may yet or may have.
● Day 5-7 ○ when things start to change. This can be the turning point in the healing process, where your brows are getting itchy and it is advised to NOT scratch them, as the wound may still be open. A thick layer of scabbing may form (may not) and the fine hair-strokes that were created may be hidden. You may feel like you want to start panicking again. ○ You have a wound on your face, therefore your body is trying to repair itself, hence the scabbing. It’s all a part of the healing process, and if you’ve had any other kind of tattoos in the past, it heals very similarly. Just know that this is totally normal and even if it doesn’t look pretty, you shouldn’t worry. Let it heal!
● Day 7 ○ (this day periods can be slightly different skin by skin) ○ This is the scary time period when the serious scabbing will start, and begin to peel away from the skin. Some will be extremely tempted to pick or peel the scabs. ○ Don’t give in to this temptation, it could affect your healing very negatively. ○ If you pick it, you could lose pigment that was deposited into the skin and could end up with a hole, patchy eyebrow. By gently rinsing the area regularly the scabs will slowly start to fall off - when they’re ready. ○ This phase is definitely the hardest of the process. As a client looking on social media, I haven’t seen anyone talk about or show this side of the microblading healing process. ○ All we see on our social media is perfectly fresh strokes, but scabbing? Who knew your entire eyebrow would shed and go through this transformation? This experience is perfectly normal, and necessary for their eyebrows to heal properly.
● Day 7-10 ○ Your scabs will probably be all flaked off or flaking off on their own by this point and you’ll start to see the light at the end of the healing tunnel. ○ But because the skin has not completely mended itself back together, there may still be some cause for concern. ○ The color during these days may seem way too light or even gray and missing in spots. ○ You might feel like your skin didn’t take the pigment, but that’s not the case. ○ They’ll almost look like you’ve filled them in with a powder, so again just remain as calm as possible and begin to start enjoying the fact that your eyebrows are done for you every morning. ○ It’s important to note that at this stage, the wounds should be closed so if you’re feeling self-conscious about the light look of them, you are able to apply some makeup to fill in for the time being.
● Day 10-15 ○ The color might disappear- thinking that your brows are gone at this point ○ (Some skins may not experience this this process)
● Day 14-25 ○ The color and definition of the hair-strokes will return at this point. The color is beginning to even out and look more natural and brow-like. People you tell about the procedure won’t even believe that it’s a tattoo. It’s truly amazing. You’ll be settling into your new shortened makeup routine. You are almost there!
● Day 30 ○ Your follow up + touch up day. ○ Your healing process is complete! Your skin is completely healed and the color is softer. ○ They should look soft and natural. This is the point where you’ll be able to tell if there is anything you want to add or change, there could be a couple spots from loss of pigment, shapes which is all dependent on how well your skin took the pigment, but this is OKAY because your follow-up appointment should be just around the corner!
Lip Blushing Healing Day by Day
● DAY 1 ○ Immediately after the procedure lip blushing. For a few hours following the procedure, please continue blotting lips to remove lymph fluid - this would ensure the lips would not form a thicker scab, as well as icing frequently to keep the swelling down. ○ Following this, please apply a thin layer of aftercare on my lips. They will begin to feel dry and stick together so it's a must. It was around this time, you can take a Tyrenol + Benadryl to assist with the inflammation/pain to bring down the swelling and take the edge off. Lips might feel sunburned/raw/bruised and quite tight from the swelling. The combination of over the counter meds and Aftercare can make it more comfortable. ○ Following the procedure, lips continue to darken and change. It began to look very red/wine colored. By about 5 hours post-procedure, lips can begin feeling less tight and swollen, they are still very tender to touch, however. Same evening please follow aftercare protocol and clean the lips with a gentle sulfate-free, fragrance-free soap (Stella's soap). After patting dry please apply a thin layer of aftercare. ○ While washing lips, you might notice the sensation in my lips can be completely off due to numbing cream. After cleansing, please dabbed with a fresh, clean washcloth and it felt smooth as silk despite being textured. At this point, the pigment appeared slightly deeper in color. You can finish the night by putting a light coating of Aftercare ointment given by Stella Kim Artistry to keep the lips from feeling dry/tight while sleeping.
● DAY 2-3 ○ 24-48 hours can definitely be an adjustment. One strange thing you will notice would be that lips can still feel a little tingly numb feeling, kind of like pins and needles without the pain. At midday the dryness began to set in, so please apply aftercare ointment frequently to help with the feeling of extreme dryness. The edges (if you did lip lining ) can be the worst at this point, they felt like badly chapped lips. Again, the color began to shift from a red/coral to deep dusty pink. By evening lips might have gone down in sizes and were nearly normal again. Lines began appearing on lips as they had deflated from their giant size post-procedure. ○ On Day 3, your lips might feel extremely dry and tight. At this point, the scab was fully formed and much thicker than it had been on Day 2. This scab can begin to crack in spots. It would sting in the corner of my mouth if you accidentally opened your mouth too wide to eat or yawn, your lips would split if you moved your mouth too much while speaking or laughing. By mid-day, the center of the lips first began lifting in the inner edge.
● Day 4 ○ Please avoid not picking on your scabs. You will see scabbing gets thick, hard and crusty. As the morning went on, this quickly began to change, they began to lift and peel. By early afternoon ⅓ to ½ had lifted off, but not fully peeled. The color underneath will be so natural and perfect.
● DAY 5-7 ○ On Days 5 through 7,Lips will feel extremely dry - They will also go through the second layer of thinner peeling. They can feel extremely sensitive to touch but not as bad to spice Please continue the aftercare routine that was given on Day 1
● DAY 8-10 ○ On Day 8 The lips will feel very dry and hard flakey, very different from the thin peeling I had experienced on Day 5-7. I noticed another change in the color, feeling that it had lightened a bit from the previous few days.
● Day 10 -14 ○ your lips should begin to feel “normal”.
● DAY 14-30 ○ Day 14, the dryness finally begins to subside and the color will begin to “bloom”, settling into a deeper but natural tone. Approaching 21 days, lips can finally not look dark or wash out.
○ Moral of the story, your lips are going to appear many different colors over these first 30 days and peel like a snake, trust in the process! Follow your aftercare protocol, don’t pick, be patient. Promise it’s all worth it!
Scalp-micro-pigmentation After Care Instructions
These guidelines are for general information only. For specific answers to individual questions about your own treatment and/circumstances please contact us.
Days 1 – 7 ● Keep your head dry ● Avoid physical effort and sun exposure that could make you sweat ● Don’t wash your head and be careful to not get it wet while in the shower ● If you frequently walk places, remember to take an umbrella with you ● Otherwise, resume work and activities as before. Life returns to normal!
Day 7 ● Resist peeling off scabs. It is important to let scabs remain on the head and fully heal as removing them prematurely can take some of the pigment with it. ● Now you may also get your head wet. A light shower is a nice way to go, but don’t use shampoo yet. ● You can start to perform activities that may make you sweat a bit, but avoid heavy cardio sessions that may cause heavy sweating
Day 8 ● After the first week has passed you may start using a moisturizer, in fact this is recommended
Day 10 ● Showering may resume as normal now and you may get your head wet and use shampoo as you please ● If all the scabs have healed, you may consider shaving with a razor blade at this point. It is important to ensure all scabs on the scalp have healed prior to shaving. ● Get back into the gym and sweat as much as you like!
Day 30 ● You may apply tanner to your scalp ● You may go for a swim! (chlorinated pools and hot tubs are okay, as well as saunas) ● Make sure to use sunscreen during prolonged sun exposure with a minimum SPF 30, or ideally SPF 50. Without sunscreen over the years UV rays will gradually break down and fade your SMP treatment. ● May come in for your session (some scalp / hair lines are divided by few more appointments)
